So I Listed My Favourites Here To Let You Have A Taste Of What Is Out There.



With thousands of free self defense techniques available on the information superhighway, it is hard to weed out the garbage.

You do a search on youtube and end up with a few good videos.

The rest are prepubescent teens, wearing long underwear as a super hero costume with their trusty sock puppet sidekick demonstrating how to knock out evil villains with the perfect flying superman punch or some ninja death touch!

The rest are just a series of 30-40 second clips set to some good music and advertising their products and self defense training. No value whatsoever and all they are is a commercial!

Of all the free self defense techniques available on the web I thought I would start with the following one because it discusses probably the most critical piece that can save your life.

This is that you need to react instantaneously to anyone who encroaches upon your personal space. You can do this in one of two ways.

Number one is to create additional space between the two of you accompany this by a loud assertive verbal command and hand movement.

If this is ignored then permission has been granted to move directly to number two.

It is also important to note that creating additional space is only useful if you have not determined the other person to be a threat yet.

Trust your intuition, your gut is usually right!

My personal feeling on this is that if your gut is telling you that you are in danger, act before the other person has a chance to act upon you.

Now, in the legal world this would be absolutely wrong and the wrong thing to do.

Remember, that is in a civilized world under civilized rules. If you are dealing with a criminal or a sociopath, there is nothing civil about what they are going to do to you and they do not abide by the same laws as you or I.

In a life or death struggle the only thing that matters is who walks away. You or them?

Number two is ...... act instantaneously...... no pausing, no discussion, nothing but action!

The second video in our free self defense techniques section is the eye gouge. Simple and extremely effective.

Now we are not talking about using this as a stand alone self defense move, rather it is a lead in to another move.

However as in all self defense we are not talking about a flick into the eye area which will only piss the other guy off.

The intent with the eye gouge is to injure and either puncture the eye ball with your fingers or tear it out of it's socket.

Now if you are successful with puncturing it or tearing it out, there is a strong possibility that this may be the only move you needed to make to get into the clear and exit the scene.

The following are the main points to remember.

1- Keep your fingers stiff and tight not loose and limp. Your fingers are the striking surface and if the striking surface is loose and limp you will break a finger, injure yourself and really piss the other guy off because you tried to take his or her eyes out!

2- Keep your fingers slightly curled, like your palms are the foot pads of a tiger and your fingers are the claws.

3- Keep all of your fingers extended. This increases your odds of injuring the other person. More weapons are flying their way! This is done in order to compensate for poor targeting and a lack of coordination due to a massive adrenaline dump in your body.

4- Full penetration into the other human body in front of you is what turns this from an annoying flick into the eyes to a they are never, ever, ever going to see again from that eye kind of move.




The next three self defense technique videos show you one of the most important foundational strikes in a combatives system.

It is powerful, targeted to a weak area and extremely effective when done right!

Your next free self defense technique video is the chin jab!

Now I watched several online videos about the chin jab but the best ones I found are below. Good instruction and detail are given.

The original version of the chin jab included using a tiger claw like strike with your hands and clawing at the eyes when striking.

The civilian version is more like a palm facing out uppercut powered by momentum, mechanical leverage and bodyweight to pack one heck of a wallop!

I actually prefer the civilian version because your attention is on just performing one movement and not trying to remember to claw into the eyes upon impact.

The next free self defense technique demonstrates an ankle stomp. The ankle stomp is used to break the ankle and you can use the same motions to tear the knee joint.

Targeting is essential. You do not aim directly on the joint but a few inches above it.

The next critical step is penetration and use of your complete body weight to stomp on the ankle to tear the joint.

The key here is that this is not a side kick to the joint. You are stomping down on a 45 degree line. Your foot follows the snapped joint and leg all the way down to the ground.

Another crucial item is that this self defense technique is usually not an opening move. It is used after you have already injured the individual.

Ideally something like an eye gouge or groin kick has just been completed and immediately while the weight of the other guy is shifted back and the legs are bearing a full load, you then move in and destroy the joint.

Now the other guy is unable to chase you and you have an advantage. If you feel that they are no longer a threat and not going to pull a gun out and shoot you, you can now exit the scene and contact the authorities to file a report.

Finding the suspect will probably be easy since you learned this and the other free self defense moves the police can check the emergency waiting rooms for somebody with a broken ankle and ruptured eyeball.

They can just look for the stereotypical pirate looking kind of guy! Eye patch and peg leg limp are all courtesy of you!

Now there is one last important point that I wanted to go over before you view the video.

Note that if you find yourself on the ground, this self defense move can still work for you! Simply target the area and focus on taking it out using your bodyweight and whatever hard surface of your body you have at your disposal to throw at it!

Just remember to penetrate through it, use your body weight and strike through and down at a 45 degree angle.

This free self defense technique is an attack to the jugular notch.

Just put your fingers on your windpipe, follow it down to the notch where your two collar bones meet.

The whole key here is you use your fingers to move in and down. It is almost like this notch is a handle!

A proper strike to the throat can be and is almost always lethal.

Play around with sticking your fingers in and down on your own jugular notch and you can see how this would be effective to use to escape a close quarters situation, maybe a shoulder grab or a hair pull.

Add this and the previously viewed free self defense techniques to your tool box and you will find that you will be able to deconstruct the human body if the need ever arises.

Lets hope that the need never does arrive..
